Students use CMS Student/HR to view all academic information and update personal information. Access your CMS Student Center from MyCSUMB.

Navigate to your Student Self Service Center
-
Log into MyCSUMB.
-
Click the CMS Student/HR link.
-
Navigation: Main menu > Self-Service > Student Center.
Add Classes
-
Log into MyCSUMB.
-
Click the CMS Student/HR link.
-
Navigation: Main Menu > Self-service > Student Center > Academic box.
-
Click on Add a Class link.
-
Click term from drop down list.
-
Step 1 - Select Classes to add to shopping cart.
-
Find classes by browsing, searching or entering Class number directly.
-
Click "View All Sections" to see multiple component classes.
-
Click the "Next" button to add a class to the shopping cart (select the most important class first for multiple component classes).
-
Enter Permission number here (if required).
-
Repeat above steps until all classes are added.

Step 2 - Confirm Classes requested - click "Finish Enrolling" button.
-
Step 3 - View Enrollment Results.
-
A green checkmark indicates success.
-
A red "X" indicates errors - click "Fix Errors" to return to shopping cart.

Refer to Registration Holds for details of how to resolve specific holds.
-
Review all messages - you may be enrolled but have issues with a specific class.
Drop a Class (Drop on-line only during priority and open enrollment periods)

Log into MyCSUMB.
-
Click the CMS Student/HR link.
-
Navigation: Main Menu > Self-service > Student Center.
-
Click Drop a Class link.
-
Select term from drop down list.
-
Find the class you wish to drop.
-
Check the box to the left of the class.
-
Click the "Drop Selected Classes" button, then "Finish Dropping" button.
-
Message should say "Success".
-
Confirm that the class was dropped in the View Results page.
Swap a Class (keeps credit minimum and ensures that the new class is available before the old one is dropped)
-
Log into MyCSUMB.
-
Click the CMS Student/HR link.
-
Navigation: Main Menu > Self-service > Student Center.
-
Click "My Class Schedule" link, then select the "Swap" Tab, or
-
Select Swap Classes from the "other academic" drop down list.
-
Go to the "Swap this Class" box, click on the arrow and select the class you want to swap.
-
Go to the "With this Class" box, enter the class number that you want (or use "Search for Class" to find it)
-
Click "Finish Swap" button to complete transaction.
-
Select term from drop down list.
-
Find the class you wish to drop and click the "Drop Selected Classes" button.
-
Confirm that the class was dropped.
Class Permissions
-
Permission numbers are required for only specified classes.
-
Obtain a permission number from the course instructor.
-
Use the permission number when enrolling in the course in CMS Student/HR. The number can only be used one time.
View your Class Schedule
-
Log into MyCSUMB.
-
Click the CMS Student/HR link.
-
Main Menu > Self-Service > Student Center > Academics section.
-
Click My Class Schedule link (opens My Class Schedule tab/page).
-
Use Display Options radio buttons to see the class schedule in List View or Calendar View.
-
A list of your classes also displays in the Academics section of your Student Center page.
-
Click the Weekly Schedule link (below the list) as alternate way to open My Class Schedule page.
Note: This is your current class schedule, not the Wish List for a proposed schedule of classes for a future term.
View your Grades
-
Log into MyCSUMB.
-
Click the CMS Student/HR link.
-
Main Menu > Self-Service > Student Center > Academic History section.
-
Select Grades link.
-
Select Term. Grades for the selected term will display.
Note: Grades are posted the day after the faculty due date for submitting grades. Any grades that are entered after the due date will appear later on the student record.
Academic Requirements Report
Displays details of courses taken (and in progress) to satisfy graduation requirements
-
Log into MyCSUMB.
-
Click the CMS Student/HR link.
-
Navigation: Main Menu > Self-Service > Student Center > Academics Section.
-
Click Academic Requirements (previously referred to as Degree Progress) item from the drop down list. Click the Go radio button to run.
-
The Academic Requirements report.
-
Click Requirements Display View desired (Expand All or Collapse All).
Unofficial Transcripts
Displays a summary of all courses taken (and in progress).

Log into MyCSUMB.
-
Click the CMS Student/HR link.
-
Navigation: Main Menu > Self-Service > Student Center > Academics Section.
-
Select Unofficial Transcript from drop down menu.
-
Click the Go radio button to the right of the menu.
-
Click the Go button.
-
View and/or print your Unofficial Transcript.
How To's - Advising
Find your advisor name/phone number
-
Log into MyCSUMB.
-
Click the CMS Student/HR link.
-
Navigation: Main Menu > Self-service > Student Center.
-
Advisor box > View the Name of advising committee with department phone number to contact, or,
view Name of advisor. -
If assigned to an advising committee, contact the department using the phone number provided to get the name of your advisor.
-
If assigned to a specific advisor contact them by phone or email to set up an advising appointment.
View advising holds
-
Log into MyCSUMB.
-
Click the CMS Student/HR link.
-
Navigation: Main Menu > Self-service > Student Center.
-
Holds box > View short description of holds.
-
Click Details link.
-
View an item list of holds with summary details.
-
Click on a hold item from the list.
-
View a detailed description of the hold item.
-
If you have an advising hold you will not be able to enroll in classes until you have seen your advisor and they remove the advising hold.
View CSUMB's course catalog
-
Log into MyCSUMB.
-
Click the CMS Student/HR link.
-
Navigation: Main Menu > Self-Service > Student Center > Search for Classes button > Class Search tab.
-
Select Term (e.g. Fall 2009).
-
Click Browse Catalog radio button.
-
Click "Go" button.
-
Click letter of subject (e.g. B for Biology, Business, etc.)
-
Click on "All Courses" or "Courses with Sections Offered" radio button.
-
Click on subject you want to view.
-
Click on Course Number or Description to see course detail and description.
-
Click on View Class Sections link at the bottom of the page to view all section times offered.
View CSUMB's class schedule
-
Log into MyCSUMB.
-
Click the CMS Student/HR link.
-
Navigation: Main Menu > Self-service > Student Center > Search for Classes button > Class Search tab.
-
Select Term (e.g. Fall 2012).
-
Click Search For Classes radio button.
-
Click "Go" button.
-
Enter search criteria (Course Subject, Course Number, Career, etc.)
To search by subject click "Select Subject" button.
Click "Additional Search Criteria" to narrow results. -
If you want to see ONLY open classes, check box.
-
Click "Search" button at bottom right.
-
To view all sections, Click "View All" on navigation bar.
-
Click on section description link to see Class Detail page.
How To's - Financial Accounts
Check Your Account Balance
-
Log into MyCSUMB.
-
Click the CMS Student/HR link.
-
Navigation: Main Menu > Self-Service > Student Center > Finances > Account Inquiry.
-
Summary Tab: "What I Owe" section displays what is due now and what is due in the future by term.
-
Activity Tab: Displays transaction activity by date range.
-
Enter From and To dates
-
Enter specific term or All Terms
-
Click GO.
-
Transactions (descriptions, charges, payments and/or refunds) are listed.
-
Click the Make Payment button. This will take you directly into the CashNet system.
Make On-line Payments
Payments (tuition, meal plan, housing...) can be made from your CMS Student Center which links directly into CashNet.

Log into MyCSUMB.
-
Click the CMS Student/HR link.
-
Navigation: Main Menu > Self-Service > Student Center > Finances > Make Payment.
-
You will be redirected directly into your CashNet account without needing to log in again.
Pay for Orientation
Register for Orientation before trying to pay for Orientation.
-
Log into MyCSUMB.
-
Click the CMS Student/HR link.
-
Navigation: Main Menu > Monterey Bay Custom CS > MB Admissions > CSUMB Orientation> OrientationSession (Student)
-
Click Make a Payment button at the bottom of the page.
-
You will be redirected directly into your CashNet account without needing to log in again.
-
Click the Orientation Payment link.
-
Enter the amount due (for you and your guests if any).
-
Click Checkout button.
-
Pay with credit card or checking.
Setting up Parent Accounts (CashNet)
-
Set up a PIN (password) for your parent as described in Online Payments for Parents.
-
Give your parent the temporary password and the website to log into.
-
They will log in and have to change their password.
eREFUNDS (Direct Deposits)
To enroll, update your account information or withdraw from eREFUNDS (Direct Deposit), follow these simple steps:

Log into MyCSUMB.
-
Click the CMS Student/HR link.
-
Navigation: Main Menu > Self-service > Student Center > Finances > Enroll in Direct Deposit.
-
Complete the 9 questions on the Enroll in Direct Deposit page and click SUBMIT.
-
Confirm by clicking OK until the "Congratulations" page displays.
-
Any refund should be posted to your checking or savings account 24-48 hours after the bank receives the funds.
To Withdraw from eREFUNDS:
-
Click the "withdraw from direct deposit" button on the Enroll in Direct Deposit page.
-
Unselect the "Terms and Conditions Acknowledgement" box!
-
Confirm by clicking OK button until the "Successfully Withdrawn" confirmation page displays.
-
Confirm that your account information was removed from your Enroll in Direct Deposit page.
Check financial aid award status
-
Log into MyCSUMB.
-
Click the CMS Student/HR login link.
-
Navigation: CMS Student/HR > Main Menu > Self-service > Student Center.
-
Finances box > Financial Aid > View Financial Aid.
-
Click "Aid Year" link to view awards by Aid Year, Term and view scheduled disbursement dates, and/or,
-
Accept/Decline Awards (use procedures below).
Accept/Decline Awards
-
Log into MyCSUMB.
-
Click the CMS Student/HR link.
-
Navigation: Main Menu > Self-service > Student Center.
-
Finances box > Financial Aid > Accept/Decline Award.
-
Select Aid Year.
-
Click Award Name for award detail.
-
Click Accept or Decline box to the right of the individual award, or,
-
Use accept all, decline all or clear all buttons.
-
Click Submit to complete action for each Award.
