For access to CMS Student, please refer to the following based on your position:


Acces to the Faculty Center is automatically assigned when faculty members are added to CMS as active instructors by the Academic Scheduling department. Active pertains to either a full-time, permanent faculty member or a lecturer with a complete/signed contract updated in CMS.


College Deans and the Provost officially designate Faculty Advisors at the start of every term.  Designated Faculty Advisors are placed on an Advisor Master List.  Faculty Advisors on this list are given access to CMS Advisor Center.  *All access requests from un-designated faculty will be re-directed to the Deans for review and approval.  If approved, the requestors name will be sent to the Office of the Provost for placement on the Advisor Master List.  Access will then be granted.


Access to CMS Student is granted based on an employee's role or position at CSUMB. Access is pre-defined for each position listed on the New Employee Data Access Request form. Use the Alternate Data Access Request form, as instructed below, for all other access requests.

*Academic Support Staff must complete a Catalog and Schedule Class training. Please contact Academic Scheduling to schedule an appointment. See Academic Support Staff Help (for CMS).


Alternate Data Access Request

Submit the Alternate Data Access Request Form to request the following types of CMS access:

  • Student Assistant
  • Peer Mentor
  • Professional Staff Advisor

  • Temporary Employee

  • Custom Access

The form can also be used to request access to:

  • CSUMB Reporting System (aka Hyperion Workspace or EMP 11 Workspace)
  • Document Management System (Student)
